The Valcom VGP 30-108 AM and FM
antenna provides omni-directional, vertically polarized coverage with
2 dBi minimum azimuth gain throughout the 30-108 MHz frequency band.
Designed to handle power levels up to 100 Watts CW, it exhibits an
input VSWR of less than 3:1 as measured at the N type input
connector located at the bottom of the base. The antenna is
influenced relatively little by its mounting location and
surrounding environment due to the inherent broadband characteristic
of the electrical design.
A broadband radiating element and matching network
are hermetically sealed inside the antenna's high strength epoxy
fibreglass radome. The interior is foamed for shock resistance
and to preserve the watertight integrity against radome puncture and
serious surface damage. An aluminum base and three flexible
and quickly deployable ground radials make up the lower portion of
the antenna. Designed for installation at a ground station,
the quick clamp socket accepts a two inch pipe mast for mounting at
the top of a support tower.
The antenna is designed to comply with the
environmental, shock and vibration requirements of military
specification MIL-E-4158 for general purpose ground equipment and is
air transportable at high altitudes
