Detailed Description
Valcom's model
VAS 30-88 is a general purpose VHF broadband communications antenna
system. Its rugged construction and spring mounting of the
whip antenna make it ideal for vehicular applications.
The antenna system
provides omni-directional vertically polarized coverage over the 30
to 88 MHz frequency range. It is conservatively rated for 75
watts of the RF input power and exhibits a VSWR of 3.5:1 or less
over the entire operating band with reference to a 50 OHM line
impedance. The input RF connection is made through a single
coaxial BNC type connector centrally located on the bottom of the
mounting base. The mounting base houses the matching unit and
EMP protection.
Fiberglass upper and
lower antenna whip elements and a polycarbonate mounting base with a
spring antenna support comprise the antenna system's three piece
construction. It is approximately 113 inches in length with
antenna elements less than one inch in diameter and weighs
approximately 11 pounds.
The antenna system
has been designed to meet the vibration and service conditions of
MIL-STD-167, type 1 and MIL-STD-810D. Mounting is provided by
four 0.375 inch diameter holes on a 4.8 inch dia bolt circle located
on the mounting flange at the base of the antenna system.
