Description
Valcom's model VAS-108 is a general purpose
VHF Broadband communications antenna system. Its rugged construction
and spring mounting of the whip antenna make it ideal for vehicular
applications.
The
antenna system provides omni-directional, vertically polarized
coverage over the 30 to 108 MHz frequency range. It is
conservatively rated for 100 watts of RF input power and exhibits a
VSWR of 3.5:1 or less over the entire operating band with reference
to a 50 OHM line impedance. The input RF connection is made through
a single coaxial BNC type connector centrally located on the bottom
of the mounting base. The mounting base houses the matching unit and
EMP protect.
Fibreglass
upper and lower antenna whip elements and a polycarbonate mounting
base with a spring antenna support comprise the antenna system's
three piece construction. It is approximately 113 inches (2.85 M) in
length with antenna elements less then one inch (2.5 cm) in diameter
and weighs approximately 9.6 pounds (4.8 kg).
The
antenna system has been designed to meet the vibration and service
conditions of MIL-STD-167, Type 1 and MIL-STD-810D. Mounting is
provided by four 0.45 inch diameter holes on a 4.5 inch dia bolt
circle located on the mounting flange at the base of the antenna
system.
