Description
The VAS-108-01 is a Broadband Vehicular Whip
Antenna system designed specifically for tactical VHF jamming
applications. The antenna also functions well to provide reliable
VHF communications for a range of military vehicles when used with a
frequency agile radio that operates within its extended VHF
frequency band of 25-88 MHz.
The
complete antenna system is comprised of an upper whip, a lower whip
and an insulated mounting base. The two whips thread together by
hand which are then screwed onto the base matching unit to complete
the system.
The
insulated mounting base houses the impedance matching network which
provides a VSWR of less than 3.5:1 across the operating frequency
band. The matching network is capable of continuous transmit power
levels of up to 100 watts.
The
VAS-108-01 provides many safety features, both for the user and the
equipment attached: High voltage isolation up to 10 kV (RMS) in the
whip sections in case of accidental strike of the antenna to
overhead power-lines; a moulded neoprene rubber eye protection
device installed at the tip of the whip; and an EMP (Electromagnetic
Pulse) protection device integrated within the base matching
network.
