Description
The Valcom model VBBA 2-9 is a 35-foot,
broadband HF tactical whip antenna. The VBBA 2-9 operates in
the 2 MHz to 9 MHz range with a maximum VSWR of 2.5:1. The
VBBA 2-9 was designed to match all of the physical and environmental
characteristics of Valcom's highly successful antenna model VBBA
2-30.
As with the VBBA 2-30 model, the VBBA 2-9 is designed to match
the full operable frequency band without the use of an external
tuning device or by having a purely resistive element in or at the
base of the antenna. This translates to a higher gain and
lower VSWR over the band. Further, by offering a narrower,
more specific frequency band, the VBBA 2-9 is able to perform with
even better expectations.
The VBBA 2-9 is a self-supporting whip antenna, comprised of an
aluminum radiating element, and an integral fibreglass mounting base
and insulator. The mounting base utilizes the same base
mounting pattern as the AS-3772B/U
tunable HF shipboard antenna. |
