| Description: | The
Valcom V-802/V-802FT is a rugged, self-supporting, medium duty
35-foot (10M) epoxy fibreglass vertical antenna. It is capable
of operation up to 5 KW average power and 10 KW peak power over the
frequency range of 1.6 to 30 MHz, and reduced power down to 800 KHz. It consists of two sections: * a top section * a combined bottom section and base insulator The pedestal base is actually a smooth continuation of the high tensile strength fibers that comprise the bottom section, forming an exceptionally strong assembly with excellent electrical and mechanical characteristics. With its integral base insulator, it is a much lighter and stronger that the obsolete brass and porcelain type insulator. Choice of Two Models The antenna is available in either of two models: * model V-802 - electrical feed-point 12 in (27.5 cm) above the mounting flange * model V-802 FT - molded axial feed-through insulator which feeds electrically from below the antenna mounting flange Valcom has designed communications antennas for many years, for environments ranging from the tropics to the Arctic. Models V-802 and V-802 FT are designed to operate with .75 in (1.87 cm) of ice, and winds of 100 MPH (160 Km/Hr). The two sections of the antenna are joined together with molded-in threaded brass couplings. A brass ball is fitted to the top of the antenna to prevent corona at high power levels. Finish and Colors The antennas are finished in epoxy polyamide paint. The standard color is grey; optionally, other color schemes are also available: * olive drab * white * candy stripe * international fluorescent red * desert sand Accessories A heavy duty steel hinged base plate, Model VHB-12, is available for the V-802 antenna to simplify installation and inspection. To complete the installation, the VGS-36-100 Ground Screen Kit, consisting of 36 radials of soft-drawn copper wire, is recommended. Valcom provides broadband matching transformers for receiving applications, such as the BBMT-50. In addition, transmitting antenna couplers, from 1 to 2800 channels, are available. |
