| Description: | The
Valcom Model V-33075AM-CL2 is a heavy duty, field proven high
reliability, coil-loaded 75-foot whip antenna for maritime and
aviation applications. The second section is inductively
loaded to the resonant frequency as specified by the customer.
Originally designed to the stringent requirements of the Canadian
Department of Transportation for the fixed non-directional radio
beacon service, it is now employed around the world in many applications.
Notably among these are high efficiency coast station requirements
in the 100 KHz to 1500 KHz bands for marine and aeronautical radio
beacon and communicating systems. The pedestal base enables the antenna to be mounted to its foundation. The usual method of installation is with an above-the-base feed-point. The base is made up of a continuation of the same high strength filament fibreglass used in the antenna. The result is an integral base insulator with exceptional electrical and mechanical properties. Power handling capabilities are improved while eliminating the heavy conventional brass and porcelain insulator. The shape transmits the bending moment evenly to the base mounting bolts. The V-33075AM-CL2 is available in two standard configurations to meet various systems and installation requirements. The standard model is provided with an above-the-base feed-point and the optional configuration is with a base feed-through insulator. The insulator is the same as that employed on Valcom's NATO antennas. The average power rating of this antenna is 2 KW below 1.5 MHz and 5 KW above 1.5 MHz. A heavy duty galvanized steel base plate (VHB-17AM) is recommended for above-base feed configurations to simplify and speed antenna installation and inspection. also available is a heavy duty galvanized steel tower (VTGS-20BH AM) for raising the antenna above obstructions. The Valcosphere is a Valcom designed "capacity hat" which adds capacity thus giving the antenna the 2 KW power handling capability. |
